The Tigers Roar into Saturday Football!

Trowbridge Town FC are pleased to announce changes to our Development team for the 2023/2024 season. Following a commendable 7th place finish in the Trowbridge & District League Division 2 last season, Neil Taylor and several members of the playing squad are moving on to pastures new – we wish them the best of luck going forward, and they are welcome back at the football club at any time.

We are delighted to say that the Development team’s position within the TDFL and Trowbridge Town pyramid will now be taken over by Trowbridge Town Tigers FC, who will continue to provide a vital pathway between our Youth, Under 17’s/18’s team and our Reserves. The Tigers, led by Tim Brown, will be sponsored by The Stallards Inn and Wagamama in Trowbridge for the upcoming season – we thank them for their support.

The decision to strengthen our existing ties with Trowbridge Town Tigers, which were agreed at the end of the 2021-2022 season, further compliments the football club’s portfolio, with our strong youth set up from U7 to U18 complimented last season by the addition of the Trowbridge Town Tigers Veterans team – and with a Trowbridge Town Tigers FC team to add to the list for the upcoming campaign, it’s a great time to be a supporter of all things Trowbridge Town.

Tim Brown, manager for the Veterans and newly formed Trowbridge Town Tigers Saturday team, spoke to trowbridgetownfootballclub.co.uk recently, commenting on the upcoming changes:

“Everyone in the team is excited at the opportunity we’ve been given. Having coached the under 16s team in the past, I know there’s great potential moving forward. The team will be a mix of players from our existing GFSN (Gay Football Supporters Network) team, our Veteran’s team and anyone new that would like to get involved. We’ve already had several new players show interest. We can’t wait for the season to start.

The Tigers currently offer 2 weekly 8 a side fun sessions in Warminster from 7-8pm. Once preseason training kicks off, the team will offer an additional midweek session for those wanting to play on a Saturday afternoon.

We would like to thank the Development team for all of their hard work last year and look forward to seeing how they get on in their next adventure – we hope to carry on their hard work and provide the town of Trowbridge with another football team to be proud of in the upcoming campaign.”

The team is “open to all”, and there will be plenty of opportunities given to everyone to take part. Training will commence initially on Monday’s at Stallards Playing Field, a stone’s throw from Trowbridge Railway station, before moving to Wednesday’s.

Home games will be played on the Selwood 4G in Frome, where the Veteran’s currently ply their trade, with the potential for games to be played at The Daykin Estates Ground as the season progresses.

Any player that is registered for the Tigers will also be able to play in the GFSN National League and Cup also. There will be national tournaments to play in as well, and a European tournament to look forward to in Vienna. Anyone wanting to take part in the new team, or any of the other Trowbridge Town Tigers run teams, can head over to the Trowbridge Town Tigers Facebook page for more information or contact the first team manager Tim Brown on 07770 972 350.
