The Beehive – TTFC Youth Roundup (18-26th November)

With the atrocious weather that we have all experienced recently starting to recede, this past weekend saw us able to host matches at Woodmarsh again – in large thanks down to the hard work of our groundsman and volunteers, who have overcome several stumbling blocks – including a broken pump and clearing a culvert blocked with fly-tipped vehicle parts outside of our land boundary – to get these games on. So a BIG thank you to them for their time and dedication.

We start our round up with a look over some of our games from 18/19th November, with match reports from Jack Palmer-White (U9), Dan Filer (U11), Garry Heywood (U12), Mac (U13), Wayne Smith (U14) and Tim Gingell (U16).

U9’s – Jack Palmer-White (H) vs Larkhall Athletic – X-X:

The U9 Tigers put in another battling performance against strong opposition from Larkhall. Despite a few very unlucky moments, the team kept going all game and displayed some of their best attacking football of the season. There were lots of positives to take from the game – well done Tigers. A particular well done to Oliver who won player of the match for some excellent attacking play and perseverance.

U11’s – Dan Filer – (H) vs AFC Corsham – X-X:

This weekend Trowbridge Town u11s wasps took on Corsham Leopards in a game that was only made playable because of the help and support of the parents. Parents and coaches came together to transport goals to Stallards Playing Field to allow the team to have a game due to the ongoing issues at Woodmarsh, which will hopefully be resolved for next weekend.

This really shows the great people we have in our club and the game was a great experience for both teams and all involved had fun.

U12’s – Garry Heywood – (A) vs AFC Corsham – 4-2 (L):

Today’s match was reversed due to the 2-3 weeks of rain so we had to play at leafy lane on a sloping pitch! The first half was close and went in at 2-2 however we should have been ahead. The second half was just as close and we had 1-2 big chances to go ahead but the wind came and with the uphill pitch we couldn’t get it out of our half and they scored twice!

The match ended 4-2 but I was so proud of our performance against a team that had won all their games by 7+ goals difference! On a better day we would have got something out of it!! Some massive performances from the attacking players who were magnificent! And the 2 midfielders Shayne and especially Leo on yet another great performance and a great goal!! Well done boys couldn’t be anymore proud of the lot of them!

U13’s – Mac – (A) vs Derry Hill Inferno – 1-4 (W):

After over a month without a game the Eagles reversed the fixture and travelled to Derry Hill Inferno.

The Eagles got back to winning ways with a determined 4-1 victory. The game was 1-1 at half time with Theo giving the Eagles the lead.

Despite playing uphill and into the rain and strong wind the eagles put in a strong second half performance and ran out 4-1 winners, with two more goals from Theo and the last goal coming from Charlie.

The parents’ player(s!) of the match had to be shared this week with Tom and Oli the deserved winners.

U14’s – Wayne Smith – (H) vs High Littleton – 4-1 (W):

TTFC under 14s made a fast start against a physical High Littleton team, scoring within the first couple of minutes. The team then allowed High Littleton to grow into the match and get a deserved equaliser.

TTFC responded instantly to go into half-time 2-1 ahead. We looked a different team in the second half and the boys took control to record a comfortable victory to retain their position at the top of Div 2 with a 4-1 win.

Player of the match was Sulaymen who is a quick and skillful forward, bagging himself a deserved hat-trick in the process. Well done Sulaymen!

U16’s – Tim Gingell:

“No game for NW U16s as League Cup tie at Wroughton postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

Eagles travelled to a wet & windy Lansdown in top of the table clash with reigning champions Larkhall Athletic. A Finn goal was not enough as they went down to a 1-4 defeat.”

Onto this weekend just gone, and a triumphant return to Woodmarsh for the majority of our youth teams, as well as our first team.

We have several match reports sent in by coaches across our age groups – here are their reports on last weekend’s fixtures:

Jack Palmer White – TTFC Tigers U9:

“The U9 coaches are very proud of the whole team, who played their best football of the year – worked hard, played for each other, kept their shape really well, and most importantly looked like they were having the most fun doing it.

Our performances have been improving each week and today everything seemed to click and help get a deserved result.

Big congratulations to Charlie P on his hat trick and player of the match award!”

Garry Heywood – U12 Tigers:

“Tigers had a friendly against a larkhall team at Lansdown today. The Tigers won 7-1 with a great performance by the whole team and lots of possession, passing and moving!

Goals from Rowan, Lucas, Leo, Charlie H and a hat trick by Bradley who scored from a corner for the second time in 3 games!”

Stuart Graham – U12 Lions:

“After conceding the first goal, U12 Lions quickly took control with 2 quick goals and took control of the first half and getting to half time 5-1 up.

Second half started how they finished, one the front foot with some great team play to go 7-1 up before 2 quick goals by Frome. Game finished 7-3.

Today was the best they have played as a team this season and could’ve been double figures if it wasn’t for the Frome keeper.

POTM goes to Kellen, controlled the center of midfield and finished with a hat trick!”

Tony Brett – U12 Leopards:

“U12 Leopards won 8-0 today against Melksham Harriers. A Straightforward win, but everyone played well, defence and GK were solid, midfield battled well and looked to the wings when attacking, wingers both used the space well and our striker bagged 4 goals. Most impressive thing was everyone keeping their shape throughout the game and all the boys listening during the breaks.

MOTM Louie Kiely for his distribution from midfield.”

Mac – U13 Eagles:

“The eagles mini winning streak continued with a resounding 16-1 victory away to Castle Combe Stripes. The Eagles quickly stamped their authority on the game with a couple of early goals and continued with the impressive performance throughout the half to establish an 8-0 halftime lead.

1st half goals came from: Theo (3), Tom A, Tom M and Ethan (3).

The 2nd half continued in the same fashion with lovely passing moves and unselfish play from the boys to set up their team mates.

The 16-1 victory was complete with second half goals from: Matthew (4), Ethan (2), Charlie and Tom A.

The parents player of the match was Bobby.”

Nathan McKinley – U15 Tornadoes:

“Great win for the lads today in a very heated local derby as emotions were running high. Some glimpses of the great football we’re capable of but it was nice in a way to see the lads come off after the win a little down knowing they could have played at a higher quality. But win we did and hopefully they’ll grow from it. The lads also coped with some pretty awful challenges.

Tom opened our scoring early on with a lovely high header over the keeper after getting under Ben’s long cross. Ryan slotted in a lovely finish from Caleb’s pass and Billy managed to slide in on the goal line to finish a scrappy 6yd battle.

Defensively strong today and some great saves from Joe including tipping a free kick over the bar. Good communication and organisation from Joe earned him MoM! Shout out to our ref who did a great job controlling a highly strung game.

TWFC 1 – 3 TTFC

Goals:Tom, Ryan, Billy

Ben (Assist)

Caleb (Assist)

MOTM: Joe

COYT!”

Tim Gingell/Ben Cundick – U16:

Tim: “NW U16s travelled to a cold & miserable Highworth Town in the County Cup.

2 goals each for Toby and man of the match Oli and 1 for Sash saw boys comfortably into quarters, where they face Lydiard Millicent, with a 5-1 win.”

Ben: “U16 eagles v Castle Combe League Cup 1st leg, Eagles travelled to Castle Combe missing players but came away with a 7-1 win in league Cup with goals for Aaron 3,Isaac 2, Mason & Selby.

Dominant all round the pitch, so many chances in the first half but only 1-0 up at the break.

Stern word at half time about finishing and taking the shot on led to us scoring 2 more in 10 mins. Went to sleep for 10 mins, let one in and then got back to playing our game. Banged another 4 in and our captain got a hatrick and MOTM.

Return leg back at woodmarsh 10th Dec.”

Congratulations to all of our youth teams on another strong set of results this week – including bragging rights in two local derbies and a 17 goal thriller!
