STEP 6 GOALKEEPER MAKES SWITCH TO THE BEES FOR REMAINDER OF THE SEASON!

Trowbridge Town are delighted to announce that former Bristol City Youth, Westbury, Heytesbury and Warminster keeper – Callum Hotine – has made the switch to The Bees’ on a permanent basis for the remainder of the 2023-2024 season.

Callum, part of the unbeaten 2022-2023 invincibles of Heytesbury FC, that won The Trowbridge & District League Division 1, A&B Cup, TDFL Knockout Cup and Wiltshire Junior Cup last season, has featured 19 times for Western League side Warminster Town this season, in a highly competitive league, utilising his ability as a goalkeeper and a CB, to maximise his game time with some great performances for The Red & Black’s.

Following some impressive performances for Trowbridge towards the end of last season, Callum was a prime target for the club during pre-season, featuring in pre-season games over the summer against Devizes Town and Peasedown Miners’ Welfare.

Callum playing for against us for Warminster in July, as we notched up an impressive pre-season friendly win over our local neighbours.

Off the back of an impressive season with Heytesbury, Callum made the leap to Step 6 and a return between the sticks (and outfield) for Warminster Town – but following a couple of appearances for us during October, including a Player of the Match performance away at Malmesbury, he has made the decision to ply his trade with the defending Wiltshire Senior League Champions for the remainder of our 2023-2024 campaign.

Speaking to trowbridgetownfootballclub.co.uk, Callum reflects:

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make to leave Warminster, and I would like to thank them for all of their support and hard work this season –  however, I believe joining Trowbridge is the best option for me. The club has shown me nothing but love every time I have been involved in the squad.

Trowbridge Town is not just a club – it’s a family, with strong and high ambitions to progress, and the set up is quality for the level they are at. I have no doubt this will only improve as work off the pitch falls into place.

I would also like to give a huge shout out to the support Trowbridge have, they always come to support their team in great numbers, and I hope they will welcome me back with open arms! I noticed your support whilst playing for you, and against you, in pre-season for Warminster. I am excited to get going and seeing where the rest of this season takes us!”

Trowbridge Town manager, Ryan Baggs, added:

“I have been chasing Callum since I took the job last year. He came along during pre-season but unfortunately for us he wanted to test himself at a higher level playing out on pitch with Warminster, an opportunity which I would never stop any player from pursuing.

When I found out he was thinking of going back in goal, I made it my number 1 priority to make sure that was for Trowbridge.

Having Callum on board is a massive statement for the club. He is an outstanding goalkeeper and top class lad – myself, Sam and all of the players are all delighted he is on board. I know the fans will be over the moon having him on a full time basis.”
