The Bees take on Kintbury Rangers this Saturday at The Daykin Estates Ground, with Kick Off scheduled for 3pm.
Having tasted defeat away at Larkhall Athletic Development on Tuesday evening, The Bees will be looking to bounce back at home. In a performance that didn’t reflect the scoreline, we started strong out of the blocks and had the game by the scruff of the neck for the first 40-45, but a combination of good play by our opponents in the second half, injury to Dan Kovacs forcing him off at the end of the first half and the sinbinning of Leigh Rogers left us frustrated and vulnerable, at one point with just 9 men on the pitch.
We managed to get a goal back through Steve Fox to bring the score to 2-1 midway through the second half, with a golden chance to equalise coming from Charlie Barber, but his shot was agonisingly close, hitting the side netting, before we conceded a 3rd late on.
On to Saturday, and Kintbury were our final opponent of last season, a game which saw a hattrick for Jack Sterling, as well as a brace from James Rustell and a well taken goal by Charlie Barber in a 6-2 win. This is our only competitive victory over Kintbury, although we only played our first game against them in 2017, and results were expunged during the 2019/20 season.
Kintbury have started the season well, sitting in 2nd, having played an extra game more than us. We sit in 14th, having played and lost 1 game so far.
The game will be the first competitive action on home soil since April, and the first since our recent pitch work was completed – we are looking forward to seeing our supporters once more cheering on The Bees at home.
