We make the short journey over to local rivals Melksham Town Reserves on WEDNESDAY night, kick off 7.45pm at Oakfield Stadium. Admission is £3 for adults. This match is rescheduled from Tuesday 14th November.
This will be our first match in 26 days, following numerous postponements home and away, and so we are hoping for a good away following to cheer the lads on. The Bees make their first appearance in the Quarter Finals since 2015-16. The Bees will be looking to progress to the semi final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup for the first time since we won the competition, way back in the 2003-04 season.
Speaking to trowbridgetownfootballclub.co.uk, Assistant Manager Sam Houkes said:
“Firstly it’s great to be back after nearly a month without a game. The break has probably done us good, the boys have been ticking over and a few have come back from injury. A few familiar faces have rejoined us and we’ve added a few new faces (with a few more to come!).
The squad is looking much stronger than it did when we last met in August, and we come into this fixture looking to progress to next round against a strong Melksham side.
It was an end to end game here earlier in the season so this one is set up perfectly. Being realistic, and with a slow start to the season, the cups are probably our best chance of silverware this season and although this competition has stronger teams in it, we will take the underdog statement by the horns and give it everything we’ve got.
We hope there will be many of you over on Wednesday to support the boys and hopefully see us through to next round which could potentially see us paired up against some old foes!”
Captain Liam Milburn reflects:
“I think after a few weeks of no action we’ll all just be glad to get a game of football played. Luckily we’ve managed to get a few training sessions in to keep ticking over but nothing beats actually playing games. It will be great to get some of the new signings in the squad as well and start competing for a starting 11 slot as it will only make us better.
Obviously our last result and performance (3-2 loss to bassett) was really disappointing and we haven’t had a chance to rectify that, so the lads are really keen to get going again.
The last game against Melksham was a really tight affair and I expect Wednesday to be the same. It’s a really good chance to grab a semi final spot in a cup, things haven’t gone our way in the league this year so we really want a decent cup run/to potentially win one, to give the fans something to cheer about.
We’re going to be fully focused and determined to be in the hat for the next round, and we hope to see lots of familiar faces as we attempt to do so!”
