TTFC U11 Bees vs Bradford Town U11 Tigers

U12’s – Garry Heywood – (A) vs Trowbridge Wanderers:

“Today’s game was a 9 am kick off on a less than desirable pitch against local rivals Trowbridge Wanderers. In the first half our team had to endure a very aggressive wanderers team, and the tackles were flying in –  it got a bit out of hand, so I took my team off until the referee intervened.

So after a horrendous first half and a lot of tears, we came out in the second half and played a great game and beat them 4-3 to bring the bragging rights back across town!

POTM was Oscar for having his half of their attack in his pocket all game! Bradley for his 3rd hat trick in 4 games – and the entire team for showing class and integrity and just playing football! A very proud day for the tigers and the whole of the under 12 teams!”

U12’s – Stuart Graham – (H) vs Bradford Town:

“On a very tricky pitch, both teams struggled to get control of the game, but Lions got the breakthrough on 18 minutes after a save by the keeper rebounded off Will to break the deadlock.

Our second goal is a contender for goal of the season, with Gabs picking the ball up in defence and from just inside the opposition half let fly and scored in the top corner. Half time ended 3-0.

Second half started brightly with some good play and Lions stormed into a 7-0 lead with Morgan getting a hat trick.

With the game won, they relaxed and conceded 2 quick goals before POTM Alfie finally got his goal against his old team and for all of his hard work, a well deserved POTM.”

U13’s – Mac – (A) vs AFC Corsham:

“The eagles continued their winning streak with a determined and hard fought victory against a higher group opposition.

The eagles played a fast pressing game with slick passing moves and were ahead 4-1 at the interval with goals from Matthew, Ethan (2) including a 25 yard free kick into the top corner and Theo.

All the boys continued to work hard on a heavy pitch and saw out the game 5-2 winners, with the second half goal coming from Matthew.

Parents player of the match was Ethan.”

U16’s – Tim Gingell – vs Wroughton (A):

“No game for Eagles today so just NW u16s.

Early start Sunday morning for u16s with a League Cup trip to a wet and muddy Wroughton Blues on a difficult pitch that hadn’t seen a mower in months.

2 goals in opening 7 mins was ideal start for a much changed side, fair play to Wroughton who got back to 1-2 and never gave up and battled all game but boys ran out comfortable winners.

Goals for Oli, Tom, Ryan 2 and an own goal saw a tough  quarter final tie at Stratton Juniors next month set up, the same opponents next week in the league.”

Onto the weekend of 09/10…

We had a reduced schedule for our youth teams on this weekend, with a couple of match reports sent in by coaches across our age groups – here are their reports:

Garry Heywood – U12 Tigers:

“Today’s game was yet another great win at cold, wet and windy leafy lane! We won 3-2!!!

Some great performances by Charlie I, Lucas and Bradley, a great individual goal by Leo and 2 goals by Shayne!

A special performance from Joe who has been working so hard on his defence and all came to our benefit who was terrier like with his constant tracking down!!

I couldn’t be more proud of these boys as this Corsham team was yet to lose this season until today!!”

Nathan McKinley – U15 Tornadoes:

“Another win for the lads today in very windy conditions. We struggled to play for the first 30 mins as the wind was so bad, but after some (repeated) instructions to adapt and play shorter and lower passes we settled in and Tom netted first with a nicely hit rebound. EJ closed the half with a great finish off Ryan’s pass. Their keeper was on form again and saved everything we hit at him keeping the second half goal-free until they managed to get one back with 6 mins to play. That fired them up and we defended well with a few more chances including Ryan hitting the side netting and Tobias grazing one just over the bar. Solid work at left back earned Lewis MoM today.”

And finally, onto last weekend:

Match reports came flying back in across the age groups with the increase in fixtures:

Adi Webster – U9’s vs St Andrews:

“A really good team effort from the U9’s going ahead after a powerful long range strike from man of the match Kobi and holding onto the lead until the final minutes before conceding to finish with a draw. Every player battled hard to gain possession and played the ball forward, really well done Tigers!“

Stuart Graham – U12 Lions vs Frome Town:

“Lions signed off the first half of the season With 10 wins, 1 draw and no defeats, scoring 70 goals and conceding 26.

Today we played a strong Frome side, but the team dominated from the first whistle and stormed into a 5-0 lead. Special mention to our keeper who had very little to do but came up with a point blank save just before half time.

Second half started in a similar manner with the team in complete control and finished 9-0 winners. Every player gave 100% today and POTM was Jamie. Solid in defence.

U12 Lions would like to wish all coaches, parents, players a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Garry Heywood – U12 Tigers vs Melksham Town

“Today’s game was a good 1-0 win!!

It was a very controlled win even though the result doesn’t match! Our defence today was extremely solid! To the point that melksham didn’t have a shot that I can remember at all! Lucas finally got the goal we deserved but should have been a lot more but the pitch was extremely muddy and their goalie had the game of his life!!

Another great win 4th on the bounce and we finally got our first clean sheet too!! Well done to the lads!!! Potm Charlie I for his amazing defensive performance!!”

Nathan McKinley – U15 Tornadoes vs Melksham Town:

“Disappointing to go out of the league cup today after a good, close battle.

Some flashes of great play, build up and passing but each time we went ahead they came back level after Ryan put us ahead early on in the first and Tobias again in the second half.

They moved ahead 2-3 in the second half and we brought it back level with a well struck penalty from Tobias when Ryan was brought down after weaving through several players. They moved ahead again a minute later and despite some great pressure and attacking runs we didn’t manage to get the finish we needed. An unfortunate OG in the final seconds put the win out of reach.

The ref did a fantastic job with some key decisions.”

Tim Gingell – U16 (North Wilts) vs Bishops Cannings:

U16s NW had another away day with an early morning ko at Green Lane, Devizes to take on Bishops Cannings.

A poor start saw boys go 2-0 down, one of those days where it just didn’t happen for them.

A Sasha goal got them back into game and Casper hit post late on but ended with 1-2 defeat. The New Year sees back to back Cup quarter finals so hopefully boys get back to winning ways.”

Congratulations to all of our youth teams on another strong set of results over the past couple of weeks – it was also fantastic to see the U15’s using our refurbished changing rooms recently.

We would like to wish all of our players, parents, coaches, helpers, sponsors and everyone else involved with our youth set up a Merry Christmas, and look forward to seeing you again in 2024.
