Plenty of action this weekend for our young Bees – read the full report below!
U7’s-U11’s:
Plenty of action this weekend for our younger Bees – we arent able to post the scores, although we have invited the coaches to contribute towards our round up, so hopefully this section will continue to grow as the week’s go by -you’ll find a short report below for the U9’s from coach Jack Palmer-White!
Our U10’s manager Sean had some exciting developments in his personal life, his wife giving birth earlier in the week. Lots of sleepless nights ahead, no doubt – Congratulations Sean!
One of our U9’s coaches, Jack, tells the story of their match against St Andrews’ of North Bradley:
“Trowbridge Town U9 Tigers v St Andrews U9 Cardinals
Against a very strong opposition, the U9 Tigers gave a huge effort to keep battling all through the game. There were some great saves and great tackles, and everyone kept working hard. The opposition coach commented after the game that he thought the team passed the ball really well. Special mention to Thomas M who won the Player of the Match award this week, well done Thomas!’”
U12’s:
A mixed bag of results for our U12’s this weekend – the Leopards with a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Chippenham Town, whilst the Lions scored an emphatic 10-1 win against Warminster in the Cup.
Stuart Graham, U12 Lions coach, reflects:
“U12’s Lions took on Warminster Highbury Blacks in the first round of the League Cup. After a slow start on a wet surface, the team started playing some great football and got the breakthrough on 14 minutes, finishing the first half 3-0 up.
Second half, the team went through the gears and finished the game 10-1 winners.
Round 2 has rewarded us at home again in a local derby against Melksham Town Tornadoes on 12 November. Today’s Player of the Match is Jamie for his calmness in defence. Well done Jamie!”
U13’s:
Our U13 Falcons, led by Christian Snow, overcame a strong AFC Corsham side at home, resulting in a 5-3 victory. Our other u13’s teams didn’t fare as well, with heavy defeats against Trowbridge Wanderers (TTFC U13 Eagles – 5-0) and 8-1 (TTFC U13 Hawks) vs Bath Arsenal.
Chris Snow tells the story of their game:
“U13s Falcons overcame a strong Corsham Jags side 5-3.
After losing the away fixture 2 weeks ago, the Falcons were fully committed to getting revenge
A strong start from the boys was let down with a controversial decision to give Corsham a penalty. The boys kept putting the pressure on a deserved equaliser and then push hard and got themselves in front before halftime.
Falcons pushed forward consistently in the second half and managed to get 2 penalties unfortunately 1 was missed and 1 saved. Corsham then gained a bit of confidence and punished us with 2 goals themselves.
Credit to the whole team they continued to work their socks of and managed to draw level. The never say die attitude continued and they managed to get a 4th and then a 5th goal.
The team spirit showed by the lads was great to see. Man of the Match was Ollie C.”
Goals:
Harvey A
Alfie K
Charlie A
Roy M x2
U13 Eagles coach Mac reflected:
“U13 Eagles lost the local derby 5-0 away to Trowbridge Wanderers in a keenly contested affair. The boys first loss of the season. Hayden was man of the match. Unlucky boys – on to the next one!”
U14’s:
Just the one match for the U14’s this week, Wayne Smith’s Tigers pulling off a great 1-0 victory away at Frome Town. Wayne tells the story:
“An excellent performance from the U14s away to Frome, who were fantastic hosts. I am very impressed with how the new players are developing week on week and the leadership shown from the more experienced players, to help embed them into the team.
The boys controlled the first half and we were very unlucky not to find the breakthrough. We weathered a little pressure at the start of the second half before taking back control of the match and scoring a winner from 30 yards in the dying minutes.”
U15’s:
There were celebrations aplenty for the U15’s Tornadoes, as they romped to a 5-0 win at home to Melksham Town. Nathan McKinley tells the story:
“A very dominant display from the lads today in the heat.
Our central defenders Billy and Caleb did a great job of sweeping up any attacking runs allowing Lewis and Tom to push high and support the wingers.
Heavy rotation in midfield didn’t phase the lads as Kyle, Amari, Jared and Tobias coped with the changes and distributed some great balls sending us on many attacking breaks.
A solid shot from EJ was deflected past the keeper by his defender for our first. Billy’s terrific long range strike took another deflection, but I think it was heading in anyway!
Tobias stepped up to place a well struck penalty well out of reach to the keeper’s left. Ryan worked hard all game and finally go the finish he’d been building up to late in the second half. And Kyle sealed the deal from the edge of the area in the final minutes.
Great distribution from Joe today as the lads utilised him a lot. He pulled off a couple of good saves too to earn his clean sheet. EJ and Anton continued to deliver some great balls into the box.
Stand out performance from Tom today though earning his MoM! Not only on pitch, but the sub didn’t get a break as they were tasked with running the line too!
Fantastic result lads!”
U16’s:
Our North Wilts U16’s were due to travel to Royal Wootton Bassett for a North Wilts League Cup game, but unfortunately the hosts were unable to field a side, so Trowbridge progressed to the next round.
They’ll certainly be raring to go this sunday, as they face cup action again – against Warminster in County Cup. Good luck!
Back in the Mid-Wilts, and Tim Gingell tells the story of Ben’s Eagles’:
“U16s Eagles travelled to Westwood Sunday lunchtime and a last minute winner saw them come away with 4-3 win over Bradford Aztecs to see them do the double over their opponents and maintain top spot in Mid Wilts Division 1.”
U17’s:
In the Mid-Wilts, our U17’s took on Staverton Rangers at Hilperton Village Hall, coming out with a convincing 3-1 win. This win makes it 4 from 4 for the U17’s, keeping them top of the league.
Well done again to all of our teams and we look forward to another week – the youth season is in full swing now!
