Trowbridge Town would like to announce that manager Ryan Baggs will be stepping down from his role as 1st Team Manager at the end of the 2023/2024 season due to work and family commitments.
Ryan stepped up to take on the managerial reins in our most desperate hour of need, guiding the team to the Wiltshire Senior League title last season.
The impact of this commitment cannot be overstated and, had Ryan not put himself forward to take over the reigns, and assemble a team in less than a week, the club was a serious risk of losing it’s 1st team altogether.
Speaking to our head of media, Ryan said:
“From the bottom of my heart I would like thank everyone that has played for and with me over the past 3 years.
All of the support and assistance I have had from a non playing position, including anyone that has helped me, given me advice, a phone call or a message.
Unfortunately with how well the club is progressing off of the pitch, my external circumstances with a young family and new working commitments will make it impossible for me to give the commitment and dedication the first team management position needs and deserves.
I will step down as manager at the end of the season and leave the club entirely with the best of wishes and luck in their pursuit to return to step 5/6 football.”
The club would like to place on record our gratitude and appreciation for all of the effort Ryan has put in to the role. Baggsy first signed for Trowbridge from Chippenham Town when his brother Kieran became manager back in 2014.
The following season Trowbridge lifted the title and Ryan was awarded player’s player of the season. Ryan re-signed for Trowbridge back in 2020, and was selected captain.
In 2022 after a mid season management restructure, Ryan stepped in as interim manager and guided them to their first league title in 7 years.
As a two time champion, both as a player and a manager, Baggsy will go down in the club’s history as a legend, and is always welcome back at Woodmarsh.
Thank you, Baggsy.
